BIO
LAMAN RAJABLI
Since childhood, my passion for drawing has been a constant presence in my life, eventually leading me to pursue a career where art became not just a passion, but also a profession.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Decorative and Applied Arts from the Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts, followed by a master’s degree specializing in the Examination and Restoration of Fine Art Objects.
Currently, I am employed as a Graphic Art Restorer at the Centre of Research Restoration of Museum Objects and Relicts, under the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture. In this role, I focus on the meticulous restoration and conservation of various cultural artifacts, such as manuscripts, miniature paintings, books, engravings, posters, magazines, and newspapers.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with prestigious institutions like the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, Azerbaijan Independence Museum, Azerbaijan State Art Gallery, Masalli State Art Gallery, Khachmaz Museum of History and Country Studies, Gusar Museum of History and Country Studies, House Museum of Uzeyir Hajibeyov, House Museum of Abdulla Shaig, House Museum of Victor Klein, and House Museum of Sabit Rahman, contributing to the preservation of their invaluable collections.
Unlocking few secrets of my artistic creativity
I express my emotions, thoughts, and feelings through my artwork and sketches, predominantly using a regular pen on paper. Many of my pieces feature intricate patterns, often infused with traditional Azerbaijani ornaments and design motifs. My inspiration comes from the world around me—nature’s wonders, human experiences, and the depths of my own spirit.
For me, black and white imagery encapsulates life’s contrasting realities, symbolizing its complexities and harmonies. It’s about embracing the interplay of opposites that ultimately create a cohesive whole. Working in monochrome presents its challenges; without a full color palette, I rely on composition and contrast to convey emotions effectively. Yet, this limitation also fosters creative problem-solving and a deeper connection with the artwork. Conversely, painting, especially with watercolor and gouache, offers a rich spectrum of hues that adds another layer of depth and joy to my artistic expression.
